Welcome to our third Anniversary of Infobox - yes, we are now three years old! To celebrate, we asked Mark Brownlow of Email Marketing Reports to write an article, ''Three years on and still going strong'' which addresses all the changes and challenges which email has faced over the past three years.
Greetings and welcome to September’s Infobox. In this back-to-school issue, we give you the lowdown on the latest research into consumers’ tolerance of frequent marketing emails; whether or not personalisation of the subject line speaks to recipients; the benefits of going beyond best practice and the influence of ISPs on deliverability; and for our members we provide a comprehensive checklist for creating the complete ''welcome'' email.
This month we take a look at how to make your email campaign stand out from the competition this Christmas; a new way of thinking about the consumer purchasing cycle; triggered messages in action; and for our members we present a checklist for creating the perfect email newsletter. In our regular ''campaigns we like'' section, we look at what makes online retailer Pedlars'' email campaigns work.
This month we have a focus on metrics and results. You can see when marketers are actually sending emails; how to overcome three common barriers to adopting metrics and how to make the most out of your own list. Finally, there is news from the DMA Legal & Best Practice Hub on its definitive guide to email metrics.
This month we take a look at how you can use email to grow your social networking presence, how welcome emails can be utilised to make a lasting impression, and why you should stop trying to be relevant to your entire database.
In the English countryside it is very obvious that spring has sprung, giving new birth in nature. Here at the EMC we have also given birth - no I do not mean to a lamb or foal, but to our very own Facebook page!
This month discover why you should move your newsletter from print to email and why it is good to have an email newsletter. We also focus on recession-effective lead nurturing for B2B marketers and ask you, our readers, to tell us what content you would like to see in Infobox.
Due to a great response to Stefan Pollard''s interview on the art of segmentation a few issues ago, this month we''re focusing on segmentation in more detail and I hope you''ll enjoy reading how subscriber engagement can be used for segmenting, and how segmenting can increase your deliverability.
This month learn why a good welcome email is important to the success of your campaigns, how to minimise soft bounces, we look at why it''s necessary to respect permissions and we have some great ideas for creative A/B split testing.
This month we find out how to master email marketing, what a pre-header is and how to optimise it, what we can do to encourage subscribers to read your articles and we present a fantastic report of retail subscription practices from the EEC.
With the emphasis on Best Practice, this month''s articles are all about what you can do to improve your email marketing and what needs to be done to help build trust.
This month we have Stefan Pollard on segmenting and the beautiful and creative Lisa Harmon on designing effective Holiday Season creatives.
We have some great articles lined up in this month''s issue... The legendary Bill McCloskey reveals what makes an email campaign successful and gives some great examples; Stephanie Miller of Return Path looks at how we can improve our ROI and Skip Fidura of OgilvyOne reviews the changing role of marketing over the years and comes to an interesting conclusion. And guess what?... they all have something in common...but I won''t spoil the surprise - you''ll have to read them to find the common denominator.
Welcome to our ''gearing up for the Holidays'' issue. As this month''s articles show - it''s time to be preparing for the jolly season. This month we have Part 2 of Holiday Email Strategy, by Melinda Krueger, as well as some tips for preparing for the Holiday Season by Chad White of the EEC.
We have the first in our 2-part series of Holiday Email Strategy, by Melinda Krueger. Next month we have a Holiday Special featuring Holiday Email Strategy, Part 2 from Melinda, as well as Tips for Planning Your Holiday Email Campaigns by Chad White and an EEC Report: The Guide To Gearing UP for the Holiday Season.
We''re pleased to announce that as a DMA Council, we are developing an Authentication Whitepaper and holding a webinar to support it. The dates for the release of the whitepaper and the webinar will be announced shortly on our blog. Meanwhile, in this issue we have a revealing look at subject lines and the intriguing finding that length does matter!
In this month''s issue of Infobox, Craig Spiezle of AOTA calls upon all brand owners to ensure they are authenticated by November 1 2008 - in order to be ready for the Holiday Season. Authentication is proving to be a reliable method of helping to reduce phishing and spoofing, however, it needs for us all to be employing it as a strategy in order for it to be effective. So, read on and join in!
In this month''s issue of Infobox, we look at how to get the most out of the email channel, content is (still) King and whether email marketing will be affected by the economy. We also take a look at 3 reports: The e-consultancy/Adestra Email Marketing Census, our very own DMA Email Marketing Benchmark Report and the EEC Refer a Friend Report.
Spring is sprung and the world is looking gloriously yellow, with daffodils appearing in abundance in every garden bed and field around. Winter has passed and the future is looking bright; just as the future is looking bright for email as a marketing channel. Ask any Email Service Provider around - they''ll tell you that business is blooming and the last couple of DMA Email Marketing Benchmark Reports confirm this.
