I think that unfortunately the huge amount of seedy e-mail spam that people recieve has turned people very much against e-mails from legitimate businesses.
I personally don't mind business offers in my e-mail as occassionaly i see an offer that i take advantage of. Saying that though, i don't see a huge amount of legitimate business spam at all, i can't speak for others!
